A day trip to Farmer's Daughter Fibers (transportation provided) where you will be getting a luxury shopping experience at your favorite Destination LYS. After a few hours at the Downtown shop we will be going to The Farmer's Daughter Fibers dye studio where you will have the chance to an exclusive dye studio tour and the opportunity to dye 3 skeins of yarn. We will be teaching you how to create variegated, speckled and solid colored yarns plus our creative process and behind the scenes at the Farmer's Daughter. This dye experience is exclusive to the Big Sky Country Retreats.
The second day we will have an open day where you can take an easy self-guide hike, drive a little further to some waterfalls, take a challenging hike with Candice or just CHILL in the Clubhouse with fellow knitters. That afternoon we will be joining the Ranch team for Cows and Cocktails, a thrilling Ranch experience. Ride or just pet the horses while the ranch hand serve up cocktails (or mocktails!) and a BBQ bus will be hanging around to take your order once you're feeling hungry.
Fellow knitter, Ashely Lapp will be leading 2 early morning yoga sessions out on the Clubhouse Deck. If it's chilly you will be warmed up by the outdoor fireplace.
All of The Farmer's Daughter Fibers and Ranches at Belt Creek staff is dedicated to you during this time. If you need anything, someone is there to help.

  • September's Retreat will include special guests, Spincycle Yarns!

  • Our favorite dyers from Northern Washington will be joining us in September for an exclusive Spincycle Yarns Dye Experience! The first night we will be learning about the creative process of Kate and Rachel and how you will go about dying your wool for Dyed in the Wool skeins! When we head to town instead of dyeing with the Farmer's Daughter team you will experience a Spincycle take over! The wool you dye will be sent back to Spincycle headquarters and be spun up over the next several months. You can expect to get back at least 600 yards of your own custom colorways.

What You Can Expect

Our Big Sky Country retreats are designed to be a time to slow down and take a deep breath of that fresh Montana air. With 2 days and 3 nights we won't be offering specific knitting classes. This is truly a time to come together to knit, relax, and make new friends. We don't want to pack the schedule with more to-dos!

The community you will build at these retreats will be life long. We all have one thing in common and that is knitting. But to all of us it is so much more than just fiber and needles. The bonds you will create and people you meet with nourish the soul in many ways.

  • Accommodations will be in several different houses and we will be gathering at the Clubhouse.

  • All of the experiences will encourage you to melt your stress away, invoke your inner wild child, and open your heart. This retreat is luxury meets laid back western vibes.

  • We will have around 30 guests, keeping it small enough for an intimate setting.

FAQ

I really want to go but don't know if I can commit. Can I sign up and then decide?

We do ask that only serious registrants apply. We process all applications by hand and it's hard on our limited time to go back and forth with applicants that might not be 100% committed. We also highly recommend looking at travel costs prior to signing up.

What airport do I fly into?

The closest airport is Great Falls International Airport. You may also find deals in Bozeman or Missoula, both about 3 hours away. We cannot recommend getting your airfare ASAP enough! Montana has become a very popular destination in the summers and prices go up quickly.

I fly in late, is that ok?

We recommend trying to get to Great Falls as early as possible that first day so you can make it in time for the 3pm check-in. For the September retreat it is required (unless naturally delayed) to be at the Ranch by dinner to hear the Spincycle's Dye talk. Because we are not an easy place to get to this might mean coming in a day early. We will be asking local hotels for discounts on rooms, stay tuned!

Is there transportation from the airport to the Ranches at Belt Creek?

Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate transportation besides our trip to town. You will need to rent a car to get to the Ranch (amount 30 miles outside of Great Falls). Between the Clubhouse (where events are held) and the homes are not walkable. Please do not rely on your unknown roommates to transport you.

Can I bring my spouse or children?

We see this retreat as a way to getaway, relax and do some much needed selfcare by yourself or knitting friends. I know your husband/partner/boyfriend's lifelong dream is to fish in Montana. However we are sharing houses with other guests and we ask that all husbands/partners/children sit this one out.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is at 3 PM, please do not head up to the ranch before this time. There are some great things to do in Great Falls beforehand! Check-out is 11 AM.

Will the store be open before or after the retreat?

Yes! The store will be open for you to come visit and hang out beforehand and the day the retreat is done. Last year one of our favorite times was when everyone came to the shop the day the retreat was over to shop a little more, visit and feel mushy happy from the prior days.

What if I would like to share a room, but don’t have a knitting friend to bring along?

There will be an option on the google form to mark if you are OK with sharing a room with someone you don’t know yet!

I want to see more beyond the Ranch during my retreat! Is there time and places to do that?

Yes! The first full day of the retreat we will be heading into town but the second day is much more easy breezy. There is great hiking really close to the Ranch that we can direct you to. You can also sign up for additional activities at the ranch. More information on that closer to the retreat.

I have food allergies or dietary restrictions. Can the Ranch accommodate?

Absolutely! There will be a spot on google drive to list dietary needs.

I don’t think I want to do the yoga/cocktails and cowboys/town trip, can you discount my total for me?

Prices are based upon a specific number of guests joining us and that includes accommodations, food, and activities. We cannot accommodate changes to prices based on what you may or may not want to join in on. This being said, you definitely don’t have to join any activity you don’t want to but it is included in the price and that won’t change.

Is the venue private?

The venue is private, however there might be other groups and guests on site and in the Clubhouse.

What should I bring and can I see the schedule of events?

We will be sending out a packing list and tentative schedule closer to the retreat dates!

I didn’t get into the retreat. Is there a waiting list?

A waiting list will automatically be created based on our first come, first serve policy with the google forms.

Do I earn FDF tokens for the retreat?

We are not able to offer rewards tokens for retreat payments. We are a small business and appreciate your understanding.

What are some Local Attractions and places to stay beforehand?

We will be updating our local attraction blog - stay tuned!

What is the cancelation policy?

You are able to get an 80% refund within 45 days of retreat. No refunds after 45 days.
